Super Bowl LV featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers is scheduled for February 7 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay. It is the first time we have a team playing at home for the Super Bowl. This isn’t going to be typical home-field advantage. Of course, Raymond James Stadium is not going to be filled to capacity. There is a limit of 22,000 fans at the game, 7,500 of which will be vaccinated healthcare workers.

For the fans that are attending, you know that Chiefs’ fans might make up the brunt of people in attendance. Despite being in Tampa, the Chiefs’ fan base dwarfs the Buccaneers, and I have a feeling they’ll be willing to shell out nearly $10,000 for a ticket. However, the one big thing working in favor of the Buccaneers is that they get to spend Super Bowl Week in an environment they’re familiar with, and they’ll also be playing the game in a stadium they’re familiar with.

Super Bowl LV will be the first time that a team has hosted the Super Bowl in their home stadium. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be the first to do it at Raymond James Stadium.

Those kinds of small nuances might add up, but Tom Brady and the Buccaneers are dealing with Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champions on the other side in this one. It’s the first time the teams that won the previous two Super Bowls will meet in the championship game. I don’t care who wins to be honest, but I will have several prop bets on the game to keep me interested. I’ve already locked in some unique props on the halftime show, national anthem, and ridiculous props. Heck, even on the ceremonial Super Bowl coin toss.

Now we head to the actual game where we’ll be looking for some winning game props on the field. Game props, listed under main props at MyBookie, are general props on events that could take place during the duration of the game. If you are looking for player props, then keep it tuned to TheSportsGeek blog page this week. These player prop bets are coming soon, and by the team you read this, they could be there already.

Will There Be A Successful Two-Point Conversion

-450
+275

It might be easy to select the No here and just hope that the Chiefs and Buccaneers stick with extra points. However, there is absolutely no value betting that there will not be a success two-point. Laying -450 on a bet like this is how you chew up your bankroll in a hurry. With these two offenses on the field, why not take a shot on betting the Yes? Andy Reid and the Chiefs are not conservative by any means.

If the situation calls for two points, the Chiefs are not going to be shy about going for it. They were converated all of their two-point chances this season at 100%. When they went for it, the Chiefs scored every time. It’s tough around the goal line to keep up with all of the moving parts on this Chiefs’ offense.

If the Chiefs go for it, there’s a good chance that Patrick Mahomes converts. And if the Buccaneers need a clutch two-point play, how can we bet against Tom Brady coming up short? At +260 for the Yes to win, this is purely a value play on the Chiefs or Buccaneers to come through with a two-point conversion.

First Score Method

-240
+170
+4500

The odds suggest that the Chiefs are going to receive the opening kickoff to begin the game. However, I’m not so sure that’s a value bet at +140. In fact, there could be some value on the other side. Check below for that prop. Every sportsbook I’ve looked at has the Chiefs as the favorite to receive the ball first. If that comes to fruition, the Chiefs odds of scoring first go up drastically. The team that receives the opening kick scores the first points 60% of the time.

Harrison Butker was 25 for 27, a successful field goal percentage of 92.6%. If Any Reid has to call on Butker, he should feel comfortable about his kicker converting. He’s only missed one field goal over his last seven games, with a success rate of 14 for 15 through that stretch. The Buccaneers would have to bend but not break for this bet to cash.

Their defense is capable of getting a stop, especially early in the game when nerves might be floating around for the Chiefs’ offense. The Buccaneers were sixth in the NFL with 327.1 points against per game. Opponents scored a touchdown 62.3% of the time in the red zone against the Buccaneers. We also have a chance to hit this bet with Ryan Succop of the Buccaneers.

Succop had his second-best season with a field goal conversion rate of 90.3%. He connected for 28 field goals in 31 attempts. Succop has gone 11 for 11 the last four weeks, including 3 for 3 against the Saints. No way could I lay -240 on touchdown. There isn’t any value with that bet, though the field goal at +170 is a solid value play. Note that in the last 13 Super Bowls, only four have started with a touchdown, and in the past three a field goal was the first score.

The Chiefs’ offensive line is going to be tested in this game. Their mental fortitude is going to be the difference here. One of the anchors of their offensive line, Eric Fisher, suffered a torn Achilles tendon last week in the NFC Championship. The Chiefs had two offensive linemen opt out of this season, notably Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who decided to join the frontline of the Covid-19 fight at a long-term care facility in Quebec. Along with the injury to Fisher and the opt outs, Kelechi Osemele and Mitchell Schwartz were injured early in the season. That leaves only center Austin Reiter left as a Week 1 starter for the Chiefs.

Note that the Chiefs’ offensive line was called for false starts often this season. If there was anything the Chiefs didn’t rank highly in on offense, it was their offensive line starting too early. They had 22 false starts, the fourth most in the league in the regular season, as opposed to 12 holding calls and 14 pass interference calls. With an inexperienced, and possibly a nervous offensive line, a false start by the Chiefs wouldn’t be too surprising for a first penalty. For the Buccaneers, they’ve had 12 false starts, 12 holding, and 7 pass interference infractions work against them. Just going by the numbers, a false start for the first accepted penalty looks like sharp value at +280.

Will Either Team Score Three Unanswered Times

-220
+155

I expect this to be a tight game throughout. It’s hard to see either team running away with a big lead in Super Bowl LV. Both sides are in terrific form at the moment, and that goes for both the offenses and defenses. Although, I do admit I’m concerned about the offensive line situation for the Chiefs without Eric Fisher. The Chiefs are fortunate that they have a magician like Patrick Mahomes that can run around and create plays with his legs. If no team runs away with the lead in this game, like I see happening, then it’s going to be tough to score three unanswered times. The Yes prop carries little value. -220 implies that the Yes has a 70% chance of success. I don’t know about that in a game that could easily go either way. The value appears to be with No.

If the Buccaneers win the toss, I don’t believe they’re going to want to give Patrick Mahomes an opportunity to go down the field and give the Chiefs momentum. The play has been to defer after winning the coin toss in recent memory. That wasn’t the case over a decade ago. The team that won mostly chose to take the ball. After analytics took over the NFL, I noticed a shift to teams trying to double up before halftime and then out of the break. In this case, it’s hard to see the Buccaneers giving up the ball to the Chiefs if they win the coin flip.

My Bookie Super Bowl Prop Bets

Conversely, if the Chiefs win, they’re likely going to kick the ball away, or at least if recent memory is any indicator. Andy Reid has generally been a coach that defers to the second half. He has felt confident in his defense all season, and a stop would give them a huge confidence boost against Brady. Again, zero value here on the Chiefs at -140. I expect the Buccaneers to have about a 55-60% chance of receiving the opening kickoff, which is better than the odds of +100 here.
